Is it really worth Buying a warranty?
10 years ago, even 5 years ago it was worth taking the chance, if you had a small local garage down the road, or a friend at work who was OK with the spanners, then you were usually able to repair your vehicle yourselves at a relatively low cost.
Now it's a very different story, modern cars of today have very complex computerised management systems, virtually every electrical mechanical part is computer coded to the vehicle. Resulting in huge increase in prices from the parts manufactures and ever increasing main dealer labour costs.
Over the last 5 years we have seen some main dealer labour rates increase from £45 per hour to over £125 pounds per hour.
A very common fault on most vehicles at the moment is the failure of the ABS brake pump unit at an average unit cost of £1,400.00 and labour of a further £300.00 (actual trade costs paid recently by ourselves)
These units can fail at any age and any mileage, and is so common now that even manufactures are wriggling out of paying claims when they would have normally done so in the past.
We now recommend every customer thinks long about the benefits of purchasing an AA Warranty, insuring themselves against the costs involved in owning, running and repairing a modern vehicle.
