"I had to write to you regarding the standard of service during a breakdown call-out yesterday evening.

Late yesterday afternoon, after a lovely day at my son's graduation in Newcastle, I found, when I returned to my car to take my family (including our two elderly mothers) out for a meal, that the nearside front suspension had collapsed.

After a call to the AA to explain the situation, one of your breakdown trucks arrived to take my car back to Guisborough, together with my mother who lives in Stockton. I was greeted by a friendly smile and handshake as Davie introduced himself to us.

From beginning to the end of the journey, Davie was kind and considerate and gladly made a detour to Stockton to take my mother home safely, then to drop my car off at my local garage and finally to take me home.

He managed to turn what had been a very stressful situation into a pleasant experience, for which I am very grateful."

Within about 10 minutes, your Patrol man arrived. At first he found no fault, but within a few minutes discovered it was a coil breakdown. He decided to tow me to my garage where he fitted a new coil; back on the road within hours.

"I wanted to praise the fantastic service I received yesterday.

I had a flat battery some 200 miles from home on a trip to visit my sister who is terminally ill.

The AA man came within half an hour, jumped the battery, rang on ahead to source a new battery, escorted me to the shop, fitted the battery and then took me to the right road to continue my very long journey to Suffolk.

He was courteous and empathetic, especially given my distress.

I only have a basic roadside package and the service was fantastic.

Can you please pass on my gratitude; I managed to see my sister while she was still conscious."
