History of Unbeatable Car Supermarket
In 1973 when Fred Sopp sold his first car from outside his house in the small village of Upper Beeding, West Sussex, little did he know that 35 years later his business would have grown to be the largest Independent car dealer in the south of England selling up to 8,000 cars a year.
From these humble beginnings Fred's relentless dedication to source good quality cars for knock down prices, enabled him to offer his customers a huge choice of good quality vehicles, at prices way below the traditional dealers, pioneering the birth of what we now call “The Car Supermarket”.
Today the company operates from two sites, The massive six acre 'UnbeatableCar' Car Supermarket site in Fleming way, Crawley, which stocks up to 1,000 cars all under one roof, offering an unrivalled choice of high quality vehicles at the same low prices as always.
And a second site, 'Jefferies Farm Trade Centre', Jefferies Farm, Coneyhurst, comprising of a 40 acre farm in the heart of the popular village of Billingshurst, which stocks an impressive range of small and medium sized cars in a relaxed setting of the Sussex countryside.
Recognition
The basic principles of huge choice, high quality, great value and excellent customer service are the foundations that Fred has built his family business on over the last 35 years, and has helped him to gain approval from the trading standards, firstly being awarded the 'Good Garage' recognition in the form of a fair trade charter. Followed by being the first Car Supermarket in the UK to be officially 'Approved by the Trading Standards' and become members of the 'buy with confidence' scheme.
In awarding the certificates, Chris Tinley, Fair Trade Charter Manager with West Sussex Trading Standards Service said:
