The latest Kia Cee’d is the second generation of the car that helped to make the Korean manufacturer a household name in the UK. With more than competitive pricing, low running costs and a seven-year warranty, it’s also easy to see why it’s loved across the country.
It provides the perfect balance of value, practicality, and ease of ownership for those looking for a great value hatchback. The engine range may not be quite as wide as some of the rival models, but all of the options still pack a punch, with the range-topping GT referred to as a “sporting hatch”.
With the interior, you get a fantastic driving position, great back support for long distance driving, and an easily adjustable steering wheel. With the top-spec versions, you also have fully-electric driver’s seat adjustment. The dashboard is easy to use and the dials are simple to read.
You’re unlikely to struggle for space in either the front or the back, as the Cee’d is one of the largest cars in its class. You even get a sunroof with a tilting/sliding function on the top spec models, which helps to create an airy feel without compromising on headroom. There is 380 litres of boot space, which is more than the Ford Focus and the Volkswagen Golf. With the back seats folded flat, this increases to 1,642 litres. However, the back seat flexibility does leave a little to be desired, so this is worth considering if you’re planning on carrying a number of large loads.
The Cee’d comes in eight trim levels which broadly match the Vauxhall Astra and the Ford Focus. The Cee’d is also known for its above average reliability, which is improved further by the seven-year warranty. The car also achieved the full five stars in the Euro NCAP crash tests.
If you’re looking for an affordable family hatchback, you can’t go far wrong with the Kia Cee’d.
